Chicken and Dumplings (circa Better Homes and Garden)
Prepare the Chicken and Broth
In a large pot place chicken and ingredients below and cover with water:
1 5-6 lb Stewing Chicken or 2-3 broiler chicken.
4 stalks celery with leaves chopped
2 carrots peeled and sliced
1 small onion chopped
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Cover, bring to a boil, then simmer 2-2 1/2 hours (for stewing chicken, 1 hr for broiler/fryer) or until tender.
Remove Chicken from Broth and chill both until slightly cooled. When cool enough to handle remove the chicken meat and discard the skin and bones. Strain fat from top of broth if present.
Chicken and Dumlings
Reheat the broth, to thicken the broth add:
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup flour
1 chicken boullion cube
1/8 tsp pepper
Gradually add to broth, stirring, cook till bubbly.
*Return the chicken meat to the pot.
Dumplings:
Into bubbly broth, mix and then drop by teaspoons:
2 cups Pioneer (brand) Buttermilk Biscuit and Baking Mix
2/3 cup milk
Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
Laddle into bowls and say "ymmmm"!

Karen, I think the fancy apparel adds to the recipe. I shall definitely try Mark's recipe. I understand that you are a great cook in your own right.
Marked wowed Julie and Leasa with this treat, we'd never had it before. It could be that it perfectly fit the mood and the setting, but we all had seconds so that was a good sign. Marked made the chicken, Leasa made the dumplings, I tried to put down the recipe but didn't make it myself - hope it works out.
